S-3: Stockholm and Drottningholm Palace

Note: This is a totally private tour of Stockholm exclusively for you, your family, or for your private party or group.

Transportation: By a private car, van, or motor coach depending on the number of seats required, voyage aboard a lake ship, extensive walking.
Activity level:Substantial.  Extensive walking will be required, as well as climbing stairs for a full enjoyment and experience of the entire tour.    
Major sites and inside admissions included:  The tour includes a limited Stockholm City Tour on the way to the inland waterway port from where our ship departs, The Drottningholm Palace, The Palace Theatre, The Chinese Pavilion, the Palace Gardens and Parks, cruise across the Lake Malaren.
A special note: Photography is not allowed inside the Drottningholm Palace, or in the Palace Theatre.  
Our tour shall start at your pier, where you’ll meet our DenRus guide, who will transfer your party to  Stadshuskajen, the City Hall Pier, locate right in the center of the city. There we shall board a ship and depart our cruise across the Lake Malaren to Drottningholm. The voyage takes about an hour, during which our guide will tell about the lake on which we are traveling, and the surroundings, as well as prepare us for our visit to the Royal Palace.

Upon arrival at Drottningholm we shall visit the Drottningholm Palace, which is the present home, the official royal residence of the Swedish Royal Family. The history of the Palace, and its compounds is equally fascinating as the building and the surrounding parks and gardens are beautiful. Built in 1581 by the King of Sweden, who named the mansion Drottningholm (the Queens Island), as a dedication to his wife). As it so often happened in those days, also this palace suffered of devastating fires, and large sections of the Palace were rebuilt in 1662.

The tour of the palace takes about an hour, and thereafter we shall have a leisurely stroll through the beautiful parks. You shall see the baroque park and the English park, both typical for the period they were designed, and built, and added to the compound. After that we shall still have time to visit on our own pace both the Palace Theatre, and the Chinese Pavilion.

Our return trip shall be again aboard the lake vessel, followed by a drive to the port and to our own cruise ship. You have just visited one of the remaining unique, and extremely well preserved  palaces of the 1700’s, which is also deservedly included in the UNESCO’s list of world Heritage architectural sites.
