Major sites and inside admissions includedThis is a general comprehensive Stockholm City Tour including the major sites, among them the Old Town, with an inside visit included to the Vasa Ship Museum.  There will be several photo stops on the most picturesque sites en route. .

As Stockholm is built on 14 islands, it is no wonder that water has always dominated the life of the city. Leaving the port  we shall head for Fjallgatan, the most famous viewpoint in Stockholm, which offers a wonderful view overlooking the Baltic Sea and a good part of the city’s surrounding islands. Our tour shall continue to the charming Old Town, where we’ll stroll along the extremely narrow cobblestone streets, at certain places so narrow that you may  spread your arms and touch the houses on both sides. This is the point where Stockholm started over 800 years ago. Today the area is a most expensive and fashionable center for elegant boutiques and fancy restaurants and shops. We shall also see the Royal Palace and the Stockholm Cathedral-Storkyrkan, which are both located on the same island as the Old Town. While in Stockholm, nobody is allowed to miss the Jarnpojken (the Iron Boy), Stockholm’s tiniest, but most famous public sculpture. It is a tourist site where people all over the world come to spend a whole day, leaving money and gifts. On our departure from the Old Town we’ll pass through the city’s oldest street and square.

After boarding our bus we shall drive along the Strandvagen, a famous local address for its mansions and splendid private houses, and shortly after we’ll arrive at our next location of interest, the Vasa Museum.

The royal ship, Vasa, was one of the biggest ships ever built at that age of history. Being ready for war, armed with more than 60 cannons, and decorated with some 700 brightly colored ornaments, the ship sank in 1628 on her maiden voyage right in the harbour of Stockholm, in front of the eyes of the horrified dignitaries, just after she had hardly sailed less than 100 yards. Instantly after the catastrophe some valuables were salvaged, and then the ship was simply forgotten. Vasa was, however, found and raised 333 years later.
Today the ship is the only surviving 17th-century ship in the world.. In the middle of the museum hall you can admire this indescribable sight, the majestic Vasa ship with her fully rebuilt colorful rigging, and around the ship there are five floors for viewing and with different exhibitions. They tell about Vasa’s building, her shameful sinking, salvaging, her sculptures and treasures, armory and ammunition, art of sailing, life of sailors,  and other naval things. After the guided tour around the ship you will have some time on your own to explore the museum and the shop.

Rejoining our coach we’ll drive next through the city center with its elegant shops and crowds of people. We shall pass the Central Station, see the City Hall where  the Nobel Prize ceremonies take place every year. We’ll continue along Norr Mälarstrand and the waterside to the Western Bridge, where a fantastic view shall open overlooking Lake Mälar and the Old Town. Our trip shall continue to the Southern Island, known for its artistic and bohemian areas. While passing by blocks of flats, galleries, cafés and churches our guide will tell you about Stockholm, and the Stockholmers and their lives in the past and today.
This tour is guaranteed to be one of the most unforgettable during your entire Baltic cruise, if not in your entire lifetime, regardless if you are a man or a woman, or an elderly person or a younger one. After your visit to the Vasa Museum you will be filled with the awesome feeling that you have just seen a living proof of something most unique from the history books of the world. This live experience is something Hollywood could never copy or reproduce. You have witnessed the real thing.
Please note that the tour sequences may vary depending on the day of the week in order to avoid traffic jams.
