Gdansk is located in the north of Poland on Baltic seashore. The first reference of Gdansk is mentioned in “The Life of the St. Albert” in 997. The complex combining a Castle, city and port began to take shape in the second half of 10th century. Gdansk than ruled a dynasty of Pomeranian princesses. In 1308 Gdansk was taken by Teutonic Knights, and in 1343 receives city rights.
A long-lasting Swedish war ended with the battle of Oliwa in 1627 when the Polish fleet defeats the Swedish armada. In 1793 Gdansk was annexed into German Prussia. The most famous fact of world’s history places Gdansk as the point where on September 1st 1939 the World War II broke out. Today the city  is a modern and clean  town   with  beautifully preserved architecture starting from early Medieval  Ages, Gothic up to Baroque and Renaissance buildings.

Among famous inhabitants of Gdansk are such people as:  Jan Heweliusz famous Polish astronomer, Daniel Fahrenheit, Jacob Klein, Arthur Schopenhauer.

Tour P-1: Old Town of Gdansk

Activity level: Active. A lot of walking, you can control the speed and progress of your tour.  Includes lunch.

Activity level:  Moderate. Extensive walking will be required, as well as climbing stairs for a full enjoyment and experience of the entire tour.

Tour P-6: Jewish Heritage

Activity level:  Substantial level of activity, not for slow walkers or mobility restricted passengers.
Major sites and inside admissions included: City tour over TriCity and places connected with Jewish heritage such us: Jewish Fish School in Gdynia, Sopot -  well preserved Jewish Cemetery with Historic Gate, Fence and Soldier’s Monument with   memorial Plague of Old  Synagogue.
Then  drive to  active Jewish Synagogue in Wrzeszcz with small  Jewish Cemetery, also Jewish Cemetery in Chelm, where 240 Jewish graves with Hebrew and German letters written on them.
If the time allows, we can go to suburbs of Gdansk where obelisk  from 1980 is placed, then we enter the territory of concentration camp of Stuffhof and also Jewish Cemetery called after Ghetto Heroes. Major sites and inside admissions included: Departure from Gdynia (ferry) at 19.30-20.00. drive to Malbork for evening performance „Light and Sound” (duration about 1 h) that starts at 21.30. While listening to the history of the Castle  of Teutonic’s Order, one can enjoy the performance you can submerge (sink or immerse yourself) into the Medieval Ages. Transfer back to Gdynia at 24.00. Drive to Gdansk through  Vistula’s Zulawy. On the way the guide familiarizes with the history of this region, shows the stilted houses and explains the life of inhabitants. After that we go to Gdansk sightseeing of King’s Highroad, which includes: Dluga street, Uphagen house, Town Hall of Gdansk, Neptun’s Fountain, Artus’s Palace, waterfrontcanal with famous crane „ZURAW”, with an inside visit to St. Mary’s Basilica.
